Jumping on the Food 2 Kids Bandwagon!

November 24, 2009 · 1 Comment

This holiday season, we gals at the hive will be doing a fundraiser for Food 2 Kids, which is a project of the Junior League of Athens and a branch of the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. The program provides food to children who are at risk of going hungry on the weekends. They are sent home on Fridays with a 5-7 pound sack of foods like fruit, peanut butter, cereal, pop-can soups and ravioli, and crackers. All things an unattended child could prepare for themselves. Clarke County has a 32% poverty rate and 61% of Clarke County School District’s children receive free or reduced. The need for assistance is clearly there, therefore, so is the need for further funding.

We are so excited to raise money for this program and be a part of helping to spread the word.

And now for the fun part! We have put up the tree and will be decking it out this week. To raise funds for Food 2 Kids, we will be “selling” ornaments off the tree and presents from under the tree. Each ornament has a number that corresponds to a super awesome gift! You won’t know what you’re getting until you get it, but I can tell you you’re gonna love it! They include things from: Stylized Portraiture, Studio Mod Glass, Balance Pilates, White Tiger Gourmet, Missy Kulik, Red Eye Coffee, 1000 Faces Coffee, ACC Recycling, Terrapin Brewery, and Honey’s. You won’t be disappointed! The ornaments and presents range from $5 to $30 and are an easy way for you to knock off an item from your shopping list or give yourself a holiday season boost. Just come by during December with either cash or a check ready to be mad out to the NEG Food Bank and walk out with a fabulous gift!

If you, kind readers out there, own a business or provide goods or services that you would like to throw in to the mix, please email us at honeyssalon@gmail.com  We’d love to have more. At this point we are set to raise over $400, and more donations would raise more money!

Thanks so so much in advance!

Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S. You’re correct, the llama has nothing to do with any of this. But isn’t he cute?!

Isn’t Ms. Shauna the most beautiful creature! We did it up real nice with some PM Shines in a new block color pattern with customized color formulas just for her! Coppers and red wine tones with beautiful new layers to match. Not to toot my own horn, but check out that beautiful blow out!

We sent Shauna out the door to go to band practice looking ultra fabulous. I insisted she play with a fan blowing her beautiful new hair in the wind! Movie star, Rock star, my pretty star. Let’s hang out again soon Shauna!

You can hear Shauna here and here!

Doesn’t he look handsome?

October 7, 2009 · Leave a Comment

It was Sam’s first visit to the Hive but not his first time in my chair. Sam has great natural texture that lends itself well to this “lived in” shape. As a student at UGA, he doesn’t have the time to come in every 4 weeks so “lived in” gets to grow out nicely. I love that he leaves not looking like he’s freshly trimmed. It’s like he just appears one day looking this fabulous!

Welcome to Honey’s!

Viki is such a doll! Look at her, ain’t she cute?

For the longest time she wore a graduated bob, and the last couple of times she has come in it has gotten shorter and shorter. I’m loving it. I can’t wait until she comes back in and I get to see it with her natural curl!

Lindsay is a beautiful, super talented, and outrageously sweet gal who’s been very patient with her hair.

We’ve been working on this cut for a while. She’s been long and short and now a little bit of both. Growing out certain sections to cultivate the perfect curls takes some time, and I think her patience has really begun to pay off. This cut is full of surprises that I have really enjoyed pulling together. Thanks for putting your pretty pretty curls into my hands Lindsay!

From playboy bunny to hot honey

037BEFORE
Oh dear sweet Karen had a bad hair day at another salon where a cap highlight disaster occurred and left her no regrowth coverage and blonde, blonde, blonde. Fortunately we were able to get to the “root” of the problem and add some warmer blonde tones for a more natural glow. Karen wanted to take some length off (YaY) but was afraid her face was too round to go shorter. But by taking off length you are able to actually see that she has a great face shape and it was actually her long hair that was making her face appear shapeless.040

Before the cutting begins...

Before the cutting begins...

Ella is the cutest kid I know! I have always adored her long locks so I was very shocked today when she came wanting it all cut off (sniff sniff).  Ella was very set on what she wanted done and even brought me a picture (Reese Witherspoon Sweet Home Alabama)  With a tear in my eye, and her moms, I slowly began cutting away all her length.  Ella grew up so fast in my chair today coming in a four year old and leaving a diva. She was tons fun and as you can see still as beautiful as ever! Love you Ella!

Ashilee came in with virgin hair (my favorite) wanting subtle highlights to liven up her brown hue.  Working throughout the hair, I put in panels of honey gold tones to add some flavor to her natural brown.  We were both very pleased how a subtle change could result in such a striking look.
