Oh dear sweet Karen had a bad hair day at another salon where a cap highlight disaster occurred and left her no regrowth coverage and blonde, blonde, blonde. Fortunately we were able to get to the “root” of the problem and add some warmer blonde tones for a more natural glow. Karen wanted to take some length off (YaY) but was afraid her face was too round to go shorter. But by taking off length you are able to actually see that she has a great face shape and it was actually her long hair that was making her face appear shapeless.

Before the cutting begins...
Ella is the cutest kid I know! I have always adored her long locks so I was very shocked today when she came wanting it all cut off (sniff sniff). Ella was very set on what she wanted done and even brought me a picture (Reese Witherspoon Sweet Home Alabama) With a tear in my eye, and her moms, I slowly began cutting away all her length. Ella grew up so fast in my chair today coming in a four year old and leaving a diva. She was tons fun and as you can see still as beautiful as ever! Love you Ella!

After LoLo worked her magic!

Ashilee After
Ashilee came in with virgin hair (my favorite) wanting subtle highlights to liven up her brown hue. Working throughout the hair, I put in panels of honey gold tones to add some flavor to her natural brown. We were both very pleased how a subtle change could result in such a striking look.

Stephanie our Mod Hairwolf
Well it feels like a world premier to us! We are proud to welcome aboard our newest member of the hive, Stephanie Paul. The past few weeks the three of us have gotten to know one another and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. Stephanie is now all set up and ready to roll, snip, and mesmerize all of her new clients at Honey’s!
To give everyone a sneak peek of Stephanie before you have the chance to come in and meet her, we did a super fun photo shoot with Frankie at Stylized Portraiture. We will be making postcards, advertisements, and a poster with these beautiful photographs, so look for them in the weeks and months to come.

too wholesome to be true!

Entertaining? or entertaining?
Truly Fabulous!

There is still summer left, and the fine folks at Real Simple know it. I receive weekly-ish updates in my email box of things going on at their site plus the magazine. This week it was a round up of some ways to save your hair from the damaging effects of the sun. You can check out the full article here. Real Simple offers several product choices to help out in the matter. They even give a shout out to one of our favorites at the Hive, Paul Mitchell’s Color Protect Locking Spray!
If you’ve still got a summer getaway ahead of you or a few more weeks by the pool, check out the goods at Honey’s before you dip out (or in!)
Color Protect Locking Spray… sunflower extract provides UVA and UVB protection; gives ample moisture and intensified shine
Awapuhi Moisture Mist… rehydrate weathered summer hair (and skin!) with Hawaiian Awapuhi for deep moisture and shine
Hair Repair Treatment… wheat derived conditioners repair and prevent damage, add shine and improve elasticity
Start things off right with the appropriate shampoo… come in and we’ll find your match!

I first became familiar with the name Jessica Price this past spring when Honey’s Salon helped out with UGA’s fashion merchandising department by doing hair for their fashion show. Jessica Price was a coordinator for this event and did an amazing job. She came into the salon with long blonde locks and was prepared to leave short, sexy….sophisticated. Jessica showed no fear when it came to lopping off her length. And why should she? She looks amazing! This is a great look for someone wanting to go shorter. You still have the versatility of being able to wear your hair up, down, with a ribbon head band or scarf. It lets you keep your young fun side while also adding a hint of maturity to your overall look! Stop by Flirt in downtown Athens to check out Jessica’s new ‘do!

I have done Jessica’s hair for a couple of years now, and it just gets better and better! We shift slightly each time she comes in, shifting with the seasons or whatever it is we fancy. This time, I’m in love! I love the dimension. I love the tones. This is one fabulous Momma! It is a combination of both The Color and PM Shines, keeping tones generally cool and certainly beautiful.

Thanks Jessica for giving me creative license. And thanks to Kurt for his input: summer matters not, dark hair is truly beautiful on Jess!

We’ve made new friends in town at the Recycling Center! Andre, Jo and myself volunteered at the ACC Recycling tent at this year’s AthFest. Liz, Kristine, and Suki showed us the ropes then turned us lose to inform Athenians about what goes on with recycling in Athens. It was fun to see peoples reactions to the new ad campaign, and to be a part of the event.
We were happy to donate the use of our styling chairs where people could get fake tattoos to show off their recycling spirit! It was a great time had by all. Thanks again to the ACC recycling staff for mentioning us on the radio and allowing us to be a part of such an important event.

Krimson and I take trapeze classes together at Canopy studios. Every week for the last who knows how long she has been telling me that she was going to let me cut it off, and today was the day! After going over the few ideas that she had, and me throwing in my two cents, we arrived at a rough plan. Krimson has beautiful baby fine hair that she sweeps into a ponytail

a no nonsense dream... full of nonsense!
most of the time because of her work at her restaurant, the Krimson Kafe, and tons of time on her mountain bike. Losing this ponytail was certainly worth it. I kept her hairline soft and natural, and the rest of the edges are full of separation so that her waves will come rolling out. I love love love it.
To amp up her hair we started with Tea Tree’s Lemon Sage Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner, and before her blowout I used a small amount (knowing even a small amount was more than what she would use!) of Thicken Up. She walked out with loads of texture, a little oomph, and tons of flavor!
